Iranians celebrate Festival of Fire

Iranians and Persian speaking people worldwide are preparing to celebrate traditional spring festival of fire, known as Chaharshanbeh Souri.
The festival is celebrated with zeal and enthusiasm on the eve of the last Wednesday before Nowruz (Iranian New Year) in March, by special customs and rituals such as jumping over fire, serving Ash (Iranian broth) and sweets.
The celebration usually starts in the evening, with people making bonfires in the streets and jumping over them singing "zardi-ye man az to, sorkhi-ye to az man" which means ‘my yellow is yours, your red is mine’ that is plausibly pray for purification and health as well as protection from evil and illness.
Chaharshanbeh Souri, which marks the arrival of spring, is an ancient Persian festival dating back to at least 1700 BCE of the early Zoroastrian era.
